I have been making a few zippered pouches with boxy bottoms and they turn out so wonderfully every time! So cute! I used strips of scraps for the one shown below, even some selvedge! The selvedge is the self-finished edge of the fabric and usually has the designer/company's name and dots of the different colors used in the fabric.
The pouches all have a layer of fleece and a layer of stabilizer, making them very sturdy. I have 5-inch and 7-inch zippers available. Scrappy Strips Zippered Pouch (like the photo) $15, Regular Zippered Pouch $11.

Vacation/Mother's Day
Next week is spring break for my son's school, so we'll be heading to Boston! We're going to be watching whales, walking the Freedom Trail and eating some serious seafood. I might eat all of it, so watch out.
Now for the business portion of the program: I will be gone April 3-10, resuming sewing on April 12. Any orders placed after March 30 will not be shipped until April 20 (unless you want to ask me to expedite your order, I can be bought!). May 1 is the deadline for any Mother's Day orders. I will be checking email during my trip, so please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
How about a Mommy and Me Apron Set ($30) for Mother's Day? Or a Buttercup Bag ($24)? I can make aprons for boys as well, just ask! You can also add a monogram!

New Apron!
Here's a new apron I just photographed this morning. It's in the shop in the sale section! Don't forget that the sale ends tomorrow at midnight EST!
New! Purse Pocket Organizer
I made one of these for myself a long time ago and love it! We all know that we can use more pockets in our purse or tote, and this is a great solution. I've even included a little key clasp!
This one I made from Amy Butler's Nigella Wood Fern print. It's 22" x 5" with 5 pockets in varying widths (4.25", 4.25", 3", 6" 4.25"). The fabric is home decor weight and I've added a layer of stabilizer, so it will sit up by itself!
They are $17 +tax and shipping and are included in my sale that runs through tomorrow evening! (Sale price is $13.60)
If you like this organizer but want a different fabric (or size), you may choose any fabric in my shop! Feel free to email me at april {at} forsheedesigns {dot} com with your order or with any questions! You can also get it in my Etsy shop!
PS--The circle dot and red canvas floral fabrics in my sale section are SOLD OUT!!!

A Bag for Me!
With encouragement from my new customer and friend Myra, I made a bag for myself!
I didn't design this bag (gasp!), I used Simplicity 2685. It was so nice to sew from a pattern for once! The only things I changed were the handles and the tab with the button. I have a policy about bags--they can only have one handle. So that's what I did. I didn't like the way the pattern said to sew the tab, so I did it my own way. I think my way looks better!
I used Amy Butler's Nigella line---the Wood Fern print in khaki. I'm not sure why it's called khaki because it's bright green (the color is best represented in the second photo below). The fabric is home decor weight, which is nice. I lined the bag in a tan Kona cotton and included a zippered pocket and 3 smaller pockets on the other side. I also interlined with craft fuse and fleece interfacings. It's super sturdy and ready to go! I love it!

A Buttercup Giveaway!
I've redone and redone the way I make the lovely Buttercup Bags. I have finally settled in on a method, which is truly fantastic and much better than the "old way." So, I have ONE lonely & sad Large Buttercup Bag just sitting there that was made the old way. I am giving it away! It is still as high quality as the "new way" bags, but it must go! Scroll down for the rules!
