Happy Customer!!!

This is Hannah, my friend Kimberly's little girl. Kimberly asked me to make an apron set for them and here is a photo of Hannah in her apron! So Cute!!!

Right now, I have three apron sets to choose from in my shop and can make them out of any fabric you see in my shop! (There may be a couple of exceptions, though.)

The Coolest Thing

I will be writing more on this blog, I promise. The Christmas season has overwhelmed me (70 orders in my Etsy shop alone!!!) and there was just no time to write on the good ol' blog. I wanted to share with my readers (all 4 of you and one of you is my husband!) what I think is cool about this accidental sewing business.

First, I am going to assume that most of my orders were Christmas gifts. How cool is it that I will be under about 70 people's trees this year? I know they will love their aprons or bags!!! It makes me happy to bring those people joy when they open up their gift! I hope that I hear from some of them!

Second, it is cool that I have my own business.

Third, it has kept me from having to substitute teach...at least for the past few months. I'm sure I will want to sub when business is slow, but it has been nice not having to go to the public school these days.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to my clients! And Merry Christmas to everyone!!!

Sleep? I don't need any sleep....

The craft fair I'm doing on Saturday is my first one, so there are a lot of things other than sewing projects that I needed to complete before showing up on Friday night to set up. I've made a sign, a monogramming options notebook, slips for a drawing I will be doing, shopped for a display for my bags (ended up with this), made order forms...and the list goes on.

I also needed to make an apron for myself (other than the one I cook in) to hold money and stuff. Check it out:

I used Patty Young's Mezzanine collection by Michael Miller Fabrics. I love this collection and knew I HAD to use it for MY apron.

Patty Young is a wonderful designer and has a new line coming out in December called Flora and Fauna. I wish it were out now so I could make some folks some stuff for Christmas presents with it! She has several different color palettes with this collection, which is a wonderful option to have. Which one do you like best? Leave me a comment and I will enter your name into my "fishbowl" at the craft fair this weekend. I'll be giving away an apron and a Buttercup Bag!!!

My First Craft Fair!

My friend Stephanie passed on some information about a craft fair at a church, and I decided to do it! I thought that it would be important for my first Christmas as a business to do at least one of these.

Here are the details: November 21, 8am-2pm at Sunrise Baptist Church, 3000 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30045

The products I will have available for order are:
My deadline for Christmas orders will be Friday, November 27 at midnight. I plan on shipping those orders no later than Thursday, December 17.

I am a bit nervous about this craft fair (only because I've never done one before) so please come see me if you can!

How This All Started...

I hinted that there would be an announcement of sorts back in June. Yeah I thought I would be ready for it sooner, but I wasn’t. I am now.

First I have to tell the story of how all this began. Back in April, I was planning on participating in my parents’ neighborhood yard sale. I had just started sewing again and had a permanent place to keep both machines out on a table. No more putting them away after completing a project. My mom suggested that, for the yard sale, I make some cute aprons. We thought that folks would snatch them up!

NOW LET ME TELL YOU HOW THAT WENT.

No one even looked at my aprons. Sigh. Oh well. Now at least I have a good story to tell!

So I told this story to a lot of people. The reaction was always, “Oh I didn’t know you could sew.” or “I want to see the aprons, I’ve been looking for a cute one.” or “Can you make me _________?” Ever since then I have had projects to do for people.

So far I’ve done aprons, curtains, tote bags, purses, and some alterations.

I’ve also opened an Etsy shop. You can see it here. I also accept custom orders.

In the next couple of weeks, I am going to be having a giveaway!!! Stay tuned!!!

By the way, the 2-day yard sale got me $100 and a F-150 full of stuff to take to Goodwill. What a wash.
