Friday Flower Favorites

Set of 8 4x4 Vintage Flower Photos from bomobob:

DwellinStyle's Queen Anne's Lace Patina Pillow:

And my most favorite for last. I met Jonathan at the Yellow Daisy Festival in Stone Mountain, GA this past September and these wall plaques are to die for. The one below is 8x8. He had 16 smaller plaques arranged in a square on one of his walls, which was my favorite combination. The photos on the plaques are so sharp and somehow (I wish I knew!) he has made them look slightly 3D. I hope he comes back to Yellow Daisy again this year so I can go stalk his booth :)

Enchanted Makeovers

Terry from Enchanted Makeovers contacted me a few days ago asking if I would donate one of my aprons for a cooking event that their organization was holding.

Enchanted Makeovers "transforms shelters for women and children into places of peace and possibilities—not just where basic needs are met, but spiritual needs for hope and beauty also."

Go to their website and see the beautiful work that Terry has done. Now. Do it!

I will not go into the details, but I have been physically abused by a boyfriend. It was a long time ago, and it only happened once. I left. It was extremely difficult because there is so much wrapped into a relationship...the worst part is letting that go and NOT calling him to get back together. People always ask abused women why they go back to their abusers. I can tell you why. A) I love him. B) I want to help him change. C) He will change because he loves me. D) The grown up thing is to not abandon him when he needs you. Those reasons are the tip of the iceberg, friends. Fortunately, for me, my logical voice was louder than those other voices.

My point in writing about this subject is to let you know that I understand the mentality of an abused woman, and I think Enchanted Makeovers is doing a wonderful thing by giving these women a beautiful place to live. I am honored that Terry asked me to donate.

Which pattern? Cast your vote!

I really want to buy one of these patterns so I can make a cute outfit for my American Girl Molly. She is currently wearing her Georgia Tech cheerleader uniform and has been wearing it for a while. She says she needs more variety! My problem is that I can't decide between these three patterns. They are all by Patty Young (my current obsession is her fabric), and they are adorable!

Which one do you like? If I got the pattern you like, would you want to buy an outfit for your doll (made by me, of course)? I am thinking about carrying these outfits in my Etsy shop and would like your opinions!

Friday Favorites

Welcome to the second installment of my favorites.

Patty Young's Kyoko Pattern--for both girls and American Girl dolls. I will be purchasing this one in the near future for my Molly doll:

Before and After--Custom Apron

A lady I know from church has worn this apron daily since her sister made it for her about 35 years ago. It meant a lot to her, but it had seen better days. She graciously asked if I could duplicate it, and I was happy to take on the challenge. The appliqued duck was the only part I was concerned about since I had never done an applique (believe it or not!). I did a practice run before doing the real thing and I think that was a smart move. Enjoy the photos!

Friday (or Thursday) Favorites!

Welcome to the first installment of Forshee's Friday Favorites! I decided to post this earlier because I couldn't wait to share these gorgeous things with you! (How cheesy is that title?) Basically, I'll show you a few of my favorite Etsy items each week! Enjoy!

From Etsy seller laralewis, we have these:

Then, from isabellebramson, this lovely bowl:

And last, from LinenMe, hemstitch linen placemats and runners (I'm a sucker for hemstich and linen. This combination rocks my socks off!):
